As part of Russell Bedford's corporate social responsibility program, this year, in collaboration with Russell Bedford Alexander & Associates of Kenya, donated the amount 5,000 GBP to the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). The donation will directly support the institute's scholarship program, the ICPAK Accounting & Finance (ICPAK A & F) scholarship, which was established in 2015.
The programme aims to provide university education opportunities to academically talented young Kenyans who want to continue to train in accounting, and have no resources to do so. The scholarship provides a brilliant, well-deserved Kenyan youth the opportunity to enter higher on the social ladder.
As part of the program, scholarship holders receive tuition for four years, basic hostel accommodation and additional money for transport and daily maintenance. In order to maximize the impact of this scholarship and to ensure lasting changes, ICPAK focuses on high-potential high school graduates who have already proven excellence in school and extracurricular activities, but lack funding to continue university education.
The ICPAK Scholarship is aimed at students in need who achieve high results, identified on the basis of an evaluation of their results on national high school graduation examinations in Kenya (KCSE), who meet the qualifying criteria verified by the ICPAK Scholarship Implementation Committee.
Reena Nagda Shah, a partner at Russell Bedford Alexander & Associates, a Kenyan member company, Russell Bedford, said: “We are very grateful for the contribution of Russell Bedford International to Kenya. This donation will directly support those who are passionate about their careers in accounting, but without financial support they may never realize their dreams. Thank you.”
"Deciding on the annual recipient of the charity donation Russell Bedford takes up an important place on our calendar," comments Stephen Hamlet, CEO Russell Bedford, offering us a moment to meet those who are less fortunate than we are, but who equally deserve a chance to develop. I am pleased to make the main donation to Russell Bedford in 2021 ICPAK, who is doing an amazing job to support young talent in need of additional help to start a career and at the same time significantly improve its prospects for the future."
