Fuel prices may increase from 1 January 2019 This will not happen as a result of an increase in excise duty, but as a result of the establishment of a new public tax – an issue fee. According to the preliminary assumptions, the amount of the issue fee is to be set at the level 8 cents a liter of fuel. The revenue from the levy is intended to be used for environmental purposes and to promote green drives such as electricity.
Emission fee plans are another initiative to increase fuel prices. In summer 2017 The government announced that road toll would be included in the price 20 cents a liter of fuel. However, the plans did not come to fruition due to wide public opposition.
The reason for the new charge is to include low fuel prices in Poland against other countries in Europe. However, it should be taken into account that earnings in western Europe are usually higher than in our country. For this reason, the real price of purchasing money may look different.
The Sejm is currently in the process of amending the Act on Biocomponents and Liquid Biofuels and some other laws. In addition to the issue fee, the creation of the Low Emission Transport Fund is planned to be financed by the issue fee.
