Once again, we actively participated in the creation of the Doing Business report 2020, World Bank Group flagship publication. documenting changes in the legislation 12 business areas in 190 economies, Doing Business analyses regulations that increase productivity and support the freedom to conduct business.

Doing Business includes 12 areas of business regulation. ten These areas concern business facilitations, namely: setting up a company, managing construction permits, generating electricity, registering real estate, obtaining credit, protecting minority investors, paying taxes, cross-border trade, contract enforcement and insolvency. Doing Business also measures regulations on hiring employees and concluding contracts with the government.

Data collected by Doing Business concern third questions about government actions. After first, When do governments change legislation to develop their private sector? After second, what are the characteristics of reform governments? After third, what impact do regulatory changes have on different aspects of business or investment? The answers to these questions increase our knowledge of development.

Main conclusions of the latest report

Doing Business notes 294 regulatory reforms implemented since May 2018 Until May 2019 worldwide 115 economies have facilitated business.

Economy with the most significant improvement compared to the results of the previous Doing Business edition 2020 These include Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Togo, Bahrain, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Kuwait, China, India and Nigeria. In the year Directive 2018/2019 These countries have implemented one fifth all reforms registered worldwide.

The economies of Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean are still lagging behind in terms of reforms. Just two Sub-Saharan Africa economy is located In the first 50 in terms of the ease of doing business; there are no Latin American economies in this group.

Doing Business 2020 it continues to show a consistent convergence between developing economies and developed economies, especially in terms of setting up businesses. Those economies that achieve good results in Doing Business usually benefit at a higher level of entrepreneurship and lower levels of corruption.

Although economic causes are the main drivers of reform, the progress of neighbouring economies is an additional incentive for regulatory change.
