A look at trends in the labour market shows that most companies plan to increase employment in the coming months. This is one from the ways of employers to match competition, but the task is not easy due to the lack of specialists in narrow areas of law or taxation.
Legal and tax workers will not be able to complain in the coming months about the lack of demand for their services and their own development. Both them and HR departments are facing many challenges.
Specialization sought
According to the report, the Wage Report 2019. Trends in the labour market”, conducted by Hays Poland, until 78% the surveyed plans to hire new employees in the perspective 2019 Searches will mainly concern staff members, but some companies will also use the possibility of temporary and contractual work.
The difficulties in finding a job in their profession will not be difficult for tax experts and trial professionals. Lawyers, legal advisers and employees with major specialisations in mergers and acquisitions, as well as finance, will also be able to take over their job offers.
The recruiters will distinguish the candidatures of people who speak several foreign languages, which will be perfectly able to demonstrate themselves in Polish and international law.
Emphasis on soft skills
For several years now, there has been a tendency to transcend soft skills. Soft competences are extremely useful in the legal and tax sectors during direct contacts with customers, where excellent self-presentation can bring benefits to the company.
They will also be a key element of candidates because in a few years' time, most workers will be born in years' time. 80. and 90., That is, the famous generations of Y and Z, not yet having many years of experience.
It is these people who will need to be provided with training and practice, which will allow them to join the team permanently after their residency. Generational change will significantly influence the formation of a new canon of competence.
Fight for an employee
In order to keep up with the dynamically changing market, thoughtful solutions are needed. The situation is already complicated, as confirmed by the results of the Hays Poland survey.
Just 52% companies have reported that they have sufficient competence to meet the current targets, and economist forecasts predict that global economic growth will continue for the next twelve months. The problem is also the resignations of current employees with extensive experience, which are difficult to replace quickly.
I'm sure there will be increased efforts to keep current employees in the company. Composing a counteroffer to those who are considering changing jobs is already becoming more common.
The staff shortages are large enough that employers will have to promise candidates an interesting career path and numerous non-payment benefits, in addition to satisfactory monetary remuneration.
If we are already on the subject of wages, it is also worth mentioning this issue. The wages of legal sector experts have not changed significantly over the previous year. However, increases are very likely, especially where the dynamics of work is very high.
Recruitment perspective
- Candidates today are impressive, although unfortunately they often lack competence and experience," comments Marta Zawadzka-Manager on HR at Russell Bedford. "I have often encountered the situation that applicants are redefining their responsibilities in the CV. A specialist, already working in the profession and looking for new ways of development, is a very valuable candidate for us, to whom we are able to offer a good salary, a flexible form of employment, because such specialists today value the most, and benefits – these are increasingly popular and can be a strong bargaining card.
