The coronavirus epidemic resulted in a reduction of jobs in many Polish companies. Fired workers should be able to rely on the support of their employer, called outplacement. For example, it includes professional advice, assistance in refurbishment, and the search for new employment. Unfortunately, the Randstad "Outplacement: support of employees in Poland" study shows that 75% persons released in Poland have received such support.

Who loses jobs most often?

According to Randstad, 44% Poles lost their employment during their previous career due to the employer. The most common reasons are not to extend the contract, to terminate the position or the whole company. Mid-level workers (48% The employers who are fired are specialists). The problem is less common to senior managers.

However, age and gender are also affected by dismissals, in addition to the position taken. Women and older people lose their jobs more often 40 to 49 years.

The reason may be that people of this age often have an out-of-date knowledge, especially of the latest technologies and a weaker knowledge of foreign languages than younger colleagues. These trainings involve additional costs for entrepreneurs.

Comparing the dismissed persons, it is impossible to overlook the education and type of contract with the employer. It should not be surprising that a large proportion of those fired are those with primary education (49%). More than half of the respondents are contracted or work workers.

Monetary clearance – most popular and most desirable

Undoubtedly, the simplest form of assistance for the redundant worker is a cash check. Strength 46% the employees received such support from the employer and a large majority of them are positive. Unfortunately, HR experts do not share this view, recognising it as a short-term solution that is not able to find new employment.

Forms of support assessed as more helpful include: presentation of references, meeting with a professional advisor, support in search of new employment, preparation of a professional CV or trial interview. Such behavior perfectly fits the idea of outplacement.

Positive employer image

The application of a support program for redundant workers will make them maintain a good opinion of the company. This will make it more recommended and thus the employer will receive more CVs for future recruitments. This will reduce HR costs and employee turnover.

Such a large proportion of employees not receiving any support from the company in the event of termination of the cooperation is worrying. Confirms the low level of social responsibility in the Polish business. It remains to be hoped that outplacement will gain popularity over the years. Thus, firing the employee will not only be a sad necessity, but also a possibility of further development, as well as strengthening the good image of the company.
