Labour Market Report 360% presented by the Progress Group sheds new light on the preferences of Poles about their co-workers. The main factors determining whether we want to work with a candidate are age, professional experience and origin.

Poles declare that In 2020 people with no experience, foreigners and those with a longer break in employment would be welcome at their place of employment. They are unfavorably inclined to associate in the professional sphere of seniors and minors.

Who do we want to work with?

Companies pay particular attention to soft competences in candidates when creating a team. The qualities of an ideal worker include industriousness, loyalty, flexibility, ability to deal with stress, communicativeness or good organization of working time. Finding a person who has all these qualities is a painstaking task.

Respondents to the Labour Market Report 360% they replied that they would best work with people without experience, foreigners and those who had a break in employment. So they focused mainly on features such as communication and flexibility.

We recommend the 6th Conference of Personnel and Wages 2020 - revolutionary changes

Young people are more enthusiastic and more critical

According to the report, 71% respondents replied that they would like to work with people with no experience in the profession. This is good information for young people who have just finished school and are entering the career path. It is worth remembering that lack of experience does not have to be a disadvantage.

Freshmen have no habits from other companies and they can more easily adopt the rules of the current organization. In addition, they are very enthusiastic, which translates into greater commitment to responsibilities.

Of course, they will not be able to avoid mistakes, but it will certainly be easier for them to reconcile with them than with more senior workers who require reliability from each other.

Disposability – a trait of foreigners

According to respondents, they would like their colleagues to be foreigners. She said yes. 65% subjects. For foreigners away from home, the problem should not be a job in a delegation. They can also be more available. This is due to the fact that they give less attention to family life. However, it cannot be assumed that every foreign worker has similar characteristics.

Employment break for the benefit of the candidate and the company

On third people with a long break in employment were placed in the list of most popular contributors. They often return to the profession after some time and work more efficiently. They enter professional duties with new energy and motivation. If the candidate's break was due to travel, participation in courses or foreign training, he will surely gain in the eyes of recruiters.

Who don't we want to work with?

According to the Randstad report from 2018, for Poles, working in a place where they meet people of different ages is everyday. 88% We work in multigenerational teams. Nevertheless, the respondents who took part in the Progress Group report claim that the least desirable co-workers are seniors and minors. Let us not forget that it is up to the active role of the employer to build an agreement between people of different ages and whether this differentiation will benefit the company.

Seniors not adapted to modern companies

A large number of respondents are not ready to work with seniors. More than half of the people pointed to that response. The results obtained can be motivated by negative qualities attributed to older people. In the labour market, it is assumed that the knowledge they have acquired is often highly outdated.

The undoubted disadvantage of this group of employees is the lack of knowledge about new technologies. Usually their knowledge of foreign languages is not high. They may also lack the skills necessary to operate in modern companies.

Combining work and learning too hard for teenagers

Even fewer people, for only 32% tested, positive on working with minors. A serious argument for not hiring young people is the issue of learning, which many believe should be on first place. Not every teenager is able to combine school duties with work related tasks. Young people work less, and in their tasks they are not independent, as is due to lack of experience.

Intermentoring method to compensate for differences between employees and sharing experience

A way to correct the defects of the elders (50+) and younger (-35) employees is intermentering, that is, the method of transferring knowledge and experience to each other. It focuses on the strengths of representatives of different age groups. They then become mentors to each other to varying degrees, which in practice means the natural flow of knowledge and experience in a given organisation.

Poles are prepared to cooperate with candidates declaring lack of experience in the profession. They will also be happy to share their duties with foreigners and people with breaks in employment. The age of applicants affects the desire to join the team. Among those with whom most Poles are not ready to cooperate were seniors and minors. However, if it comes to work in a multi-generational environment, intermentoring comes to help with the exchange of experience between employees for the benefit of organisations.
